On 8th December 2024, Himdent Foundation made its second visit to Aasra Trust, Aaraghar Dehradun under the Smiling Schools Programme. This initiative aimed at promoting oral health and hygiene among underprivileged children is touching lives with one smile each.
During this session, 17 permanent teeth of 8 children were filled, many of whom were suffering from pain and discomfort for a long time. With proper treatment, their dental health was restored and their dazzling smiles returned.
But the day was not just about dental care – it was about compassion, connection and creating a safe space where children felt seen, heard and cared for. The dental team patiently listened to each child, explained the procedures in a friendly manner and ensured that every child felt comfortable and fearless.
With most of these children coming from challenging backgrounds, the Smiling Schools programme is not just about filling teeth, it is also filling the gap in awareness, confidence and access to basic rights like health.
Each visit strengthens the bond with the children and deepens the impact. Their smiles, which were once hidden behind pain or hesitation, now shine openly—and that is the true success of this mission.
